The Antioch College Board of Trustees convened its winter meeting on Saturday morning, February 3, in a session which included invited guests, students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

The consent agenda was reviewed and approved by the Board.

The Board heard reports from Susan Eklund-Leen, dean and professor of cooperative education; Steve Sturman, vice president for advancement; and Hassan Rahmanian, vice president for academic affairs.

Jennifer Jolls, assistant director of communications, gave a PowerPoint presentation which outlined the timeline of events related to the announcement of the extension of the Horace Mann Fellowships.

Professors Sara Black and Kristen Adler reported to the Board on the global seminar they are co-teaching this block which focuses on food.

Students Rachael Smith and Megan Miller presented a report on an on-going study of hydraulic fracking which they began as a final project for the global seminar on water last term.

Following the morning session, the Board recessed for a working lunch. The trusteeship and facilities committees met during this time.

Following lunch, the Board met in closed session.


The Board voted to elect Judith Church ’75 as a new member of the board at the recommendation of the trusteeship committee, effective immediately.

The Board reconvened in closed session on Sunday morning, February 4.


The Board reviewed the audit report and, at the recommendation of the audit committee, voted to accept the audit report.

The next on-campus meeting of the Board of Trustees is scheduled for May 18–20, 2012.
