“Sunshine”
by Carlos Raul Dufflar ’78, February 3, 2012

That moment when the wind departed
The sky is so near and so blue and so vast
As I stood sitting in my desk
Writing and drinking una taza de café
Remembering, laughing and loving
Roses and gardens are beautiful
And humanity prays for peace
The politicians and the generals are caught
In the winds of war
The earth has grown cold like a block of ice
When will the palm trees rise?
And on this warm sunny winter day
A moment of glory took place
Flowers rising in concrete
Today we have spoken that Antioch has grown
From the ashes of past age
A joyful celebration in a drum song
Sweet rhythm pours in our heart
As Etta James At Last I found my love in full circle
